Buyer Terms of Service
Last updated: May 1, 2026
1. Scope
These Buyer Terms of Service (“Buyer Terms”) apply to every User who creates, funds, or manages a Bounty on Property Bounty (“the Platform”). By submitting a business registration, funding a Bounty, or otherwise acting as a Buyer on the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Buyer Terms in their entirety.
These Buyer Terms supplement the Platform’s full Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. In the event of any conflict between these Buyer Terms and the full Terms & Conditions, the full Terms & Conditions shall govern.
2. Business Verification
- Only Users whose business registration has been verified by Property Bounty may create or fund Bounties.
- You must provide accurate and truthful business information, including your legal business name and, where applicable, your CRA Business Number.
- Property Bounty reserves the right to reject, revoke, or re-verify any business registration at its sole discretion and without providing a reason.
- Providing false, misleading, or fraudulent business information is a material breach of these Buyer Terms and constitutes grounds for immediate and permanent account suspension.
3. Fees & Payment
- Charged at checkout. You are charged a Platform Fee of ten percent (10%) of the Reward, plus a Processing Fee of three and one-half percent (3.5%) of the Reward. The Reward itself is not charged at checkout.
- Card on file. At checkout you authorise the Platform to save your payment method via Stripe and to charge the Reward to that payment method when you accept a matching Submission ("off-session charge"). You may update or remove the saved payment method at any time before matching.
- Reward charged at match. When you accept a Submission, the Platform attempts to charge the Reward to your saved payment method. If the charge succeeds, the Reward is processed by Stripe and pending transfer to the Bounty Hunter via Stripe Connect on closing. If the charge fails — for example, your card has expired or has insufficient funds — the acceptance is rejected and the Submission remains in pending status.
- All amounts are denominated in Canadian Dollars (CAD). If your payment method is in another currency, your bank may apply conversion fees for which Property Bounty is not responsible.
-
Funds charged through the Platform are pending until one of the following occurs:
- The deal closes and the Reward transfers to the Bounty Hunter via Stripe Connect;
- The Bounty is cancelled and a refund is issued in accordance with section 6; or
- The Bounty expires without a closed deal and a refund is issued in accordance with section 6.
- The Processing Fee is non-refundable in all circumstances. The Platform Fee is non-refundable once a payout has been released to a Bounty Hunter.
- By completing checkout, you agree to Stripe’s Terms of Service. Property Bounty is not responsible for Stripe’s fees, processing delays, or service disruptions.
4. No-Circumvention Obligation
Material term.
This section is a material term of these Buyer Terms and the full Terms & Conditions. Circumvention of the Platform’s payment system undermines the entire marketplace and harms all participants.
- No off-platform deals. If you become aware of a property through a Bounty Hunter Submission — whether that Submission was accepted, rejected, or withdrawn — you shall not pursue, negotiate, or close a transaction involving that property (or the seller thereof) outside the Platform in order to avoid paying the Reward. This obligation survives for twenty-four (24) months following the date the Submission was first viewed by you.
- No straw buyers. You shall not arrange for any affiliate, associate, family member, business partner, related entity, or any other third party to acquire a property introduced through the Platform on your behalf in order to avoid paying the Reward.
- No false rejections. You shall not reject a Submission for the purpose of subsequently pursuing the same property outside the Platform. Rejecting a Submission and then contacting the seller identified in that Submission within twelve (12) months creates a rebuttable presumption of circumvention.
- Obligation to disclose. If you close a real-world transaction with a seller who was introduced through any Submission on the Platform — regardless of whether the Submission was accepted — you must report the Closing through the Platform within fourteen (14) calendar days.
5. Buyer Representations
By creating and funding a Bounty, you represent, warrant, and agree that:
- Genuine intent. You have a genuine intent to acquire a property matching your Bounty criteria. Creating Bounties for the purpose of harvesting seller contact information, conducting market research, or any purpose other than acquiring property is prohibited.
- Sufficient funds. The payment method used at checkout is yours (or you are authorized to use it), and you have sufficient funds or credit to cover the Held Amount. Chargebacks initiated in bad faith may result in account termination, forfeiture of pending refunds, and legal action.
- Accurate criteria. The property criteria specified in your Bounty are accurate and reflect your genuine requirements. Posting misleading criteria to attract Submissions you have no intention of acting on is prohibited.
- Honest closing attestation. You will only mark a deal as closed when a binding real-world transaction has actually occurred. Falsely attesting a Closing — whether to trigger a premature payout, to lock out other Bounty Hunters, or for any other reason — constitutes fraud.
- Timely review. You will review Submissions in a timely manner. Persistent failure to review Submissions may result in the Bounty being flagged or cancelled.
6. Cancellation & Refunds
- Cancel before matching. You may cancel a Bounty at any time before you accept a Submission. On such cancellation the Platform Fee is refunded in full to your original payment method. The Processing Fee is non-refundable.
- Worked example. A $10,000 Reward triggers a $1,000 (10%) Platform Fee and a $350 (3.5%) Processing Fee charged at checkout, for $1,350 charged today. On cancellation before matching: $1,000 is refunded; $350 is retained.
- After matching. Once you accept a Submission, the Reward is charged to your saved payment method and the Bounty cannot be unilaterally cancelled by you. The Bounty remains active until the deal closes, a dispute is resolved, or the Bounty expires.
- Dispute resolved in your favour. If a Closing is disputed and resolved in your favour after the Reward has been charged, the full Reward and the full Platform Fee are refunded to your original payment method. The Processing Fee remains non-refundable.
- Expired bounties. If a Bounty reaches its expiry date without a closed deal, the same refund formula applies as for cancellation before matching: the Platform Fee is refunded; the Processing Fee is retained.
- No refund after payout. Once a Reward has been released to a Bounty Hunter following a confirmed Closing, the transaction is final and no refund will be issued. The Platform Fee in full is also non-refundable in this case.
- Refund processing. Refunds are processed through Stripe to the original payment method. Processing times depend on your bank and are typically 5–10 business days.
7. Consequences of Breach
If Property Bounty determines, in its sole discretion, that you have breached these Buyer Terms — including but not limited to circumvention, fraud, or material misrepresentation — the following consequences may apply:
- Your account will be permanently suspended without prior notice.
- You remain liable for the full Reward amount plus the Platform Fee, even if no payment was made through the Platform.
- Property Bounty reserves the right to pursue legal action to recover the Reward, the Platform Fee, consequential damages, legal costs, and any other amounts owed.
- You forfeit any right to refunds or pending payouts.
- Property Bounty may refer the matter to applicable regulatory authorities if the breach involves fraud, misrepresentation, or other criminal conduct.
8. Disputes & Governing Law
- Platform dispute process. Disputes arising from a Closing are handled through the Platform’s internal dispute process. Property Bounty’s determination is final and binding on both parties.
- Governing law. These Buyer Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
- Jurisdiction. The parties irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario, sitting in the City of Toronto.
- Class action waiver. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not as a class, consolidated, or representative action.
9. Relationship to Full Terms & Conditions
This page summarizes your obligations as a Buyer on Property Bounty. It is intended to provide a focused, readable overview of the terms that apply specifically to Buyers. The full Terms & Conditions remain the authoritative and binding agreement between you and Property Bounty. In the event of any inconsistency or conflict between these Buyer Terms and the full Terms & Conditions, the full Terms & Conditions shall prevail.
